Queen Excluder Cage for 3 frames. Stainless steel.
760-1030
Price excludes GST
Crafted from premium 304 grade stainless steel, our queen isolation cage sets the new standard for durability and corrosion resistance in beekeeping equipment.
Fits three full depth frames with either 33mm or 35mm end bars.
Applications:
Benefits of using the 3-frame cage during the Honey Flow:
A. Eliminates the need for a queen excluder, resulting in increased honey yield.
B. Optimizes hive resources with less brood and more nurse bees available for honey gathering or ripening.
C. Significantly reduces mite reproduction with the decreased brood area.
D. Three good brood frames are enough to sustain the hive during a honey flow period of 8 to 10 weeks.
E. At the end of the honey flow, the 3 brood frames can be removed to make a nucleus colony with the old queen.
F. A queen cell or mated queen can be introduced to the production hive for requeening purposes.
G. The production hive can be vaporized with Oxalic Acid to kill virtually every varroa mite in the hive while there is no capped brood. Super cheap & efficient with InstantVap.
H. Start the Autumn (Fall) with zero varroa mites!
I. Alternatively, the 3 brood frames can be frozen to kill the varroa mites inside the cells then added to strong healthy colonies to clean up and re-use.
Specifications.
Internal hive dimensions must be the Langstroth standard to ensure the cage fits properly and there are no gaps for the queen to escape.
Many beekeepers ensure their queens are marked so they are easy to find for caging when required.
One frame cage available here.
As we see more and more varroa resistance to the synthetic miticide strips, beekeepers are turning to organic acids for successful varroa control. There is no evidence worldwide of the mites getting resistant to them. The stainless steel cages are very resilient in an acid environment and will not oxidise and deteriorate like galvanised steel products.

Price excludes GST
This large 304 grade stainless steel heated tank makes it nice and easy to liquify crystallized honey, or wax or anything that requires gentle heat!
The tank has an outer jacket which is filled with water or oil. The electric element heats the liquid in the outer jacket directly to provide a very safe and even heat to the contents inside the tank.
There are two size options to choose from:
- 80 Litre
- 100 Litre
The tank can be heated close to 90 degrees. The tank has an outlet at the bottom. A ball valve comes as standard. You can also fit a honey gate, sold separately here.
The unit has an accurate and easy-to-use thermostatic controller. Adjustable from 30°C to 90°C where you set upper and lower limits. Simply set your upper and lower limit and the element will maintain the temperature between that setting. Once the jacket has heated to the desired temperature, the thermostat only supplies power to the heating element as it is needed to maintain the correct temperature.
Dimensions:- Both tanks are 510mm diameter plus any of the fittings on the side. Height to the top of the tank:
80 Litre - 630mm.

Nassenheider Evaporator

Please order in multiples of 2 units. That is is how they are packaged at the factory, with 46 evaporators packed per carton. Please note: the evaporator is sold without 65% Formic Acid. Click here for Formic Acid.
Take control of varroa mites effortlessly with the Nassenheider Professional Evaporator. This long-term evaporation system is designed for safe and effective varroa treatment in beehives. Perfect for autumn (and Spring) varroa control, it utilizes a 65% formic acid (FA) solution for consistent evaporation over a 20 day period when using the No.2 wick. Beehives with high infestations can be brought under control in a relatively short space of time. In areas with high re-infestation issues, it is recommended to do 2 treatments. For treatments in summer or during a honey flow, we recommend using Oxalic Acid Extended-release (OAE) strips.

Evaporation rates:
With 65% Formic Acid, it is recommended to evaporate between 9 and 22 mill per day per full depth brood box. 22 mill per day in one brood box is at a level where it is thought to disrupt the mites under the cell cap. But that high level of exposure is not necessary for good mite control. 14 mill per day will kill virtually all the phoretic mites. (Mites on bees) Drone cells are capped for 14 days so as long as there is an application killing virtually all phoretic mites for a continuous 15 day period then good varroa control can be accomplished.
Safety.
Formic Acid liquid, and the gas from the liquid, can damage skin and eye tissue. It is very important that suitable protective clothing is worn. It is especially important when filling bottles from the bulk supply containers. A respirator mask with face protection, nitrile gloves, PVC apron and overalls should all be worn. Replacing empty bottles with full bottles in the field requires nitrile gloves as a minimum. Stand upwind when doing this procedure.
In a Featherston field trial, where autumn varroa control was historically challenging, the Nassenheider Evaporator delivered outstanding results, significantly reducing mite levels and improving colony health. Read the full blog HERE.
